Shopify US plans paid yearly, Basic $29, Grow $79 and Advanced $299 a month, with their online card rates.

Shopify pricing has three layers: a monthly plan, a fee on every card payment, and whatever you add on top, such as apps, a paid theme or point of sale. This guide gives US pricing as Shopify published it on 3 November 2026, with Australian prices alongside. Shopify shows local prices by region, so if you are elsewhere you will see your own currency and possibly different rates. Prices change, so always check the live Shopify pricing page before you budget.

Where do these prices come from?

The US figures come from Shopify's own published guides, and the Australian figures from Shopify's Australian pricing page. The main pricing page detects your location and shows local prices; there is no separate US address for it, so it can only be read in US dollars from the US. For US plan prices we use Shopify's guide to ecommerce website costs, updated 3 September 2026, and for US card rates its guide to card processing fees, published 22 October 2026. For Australia we read the Australian pricing page directly on 3 November 2026.

What do Shopify plans cost in the US?

Shopify lists four main plans, Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus. In the US, Shopify's cost guide gives these prices when paid yearly:

  • Basic: $29 a month, paid yearly. A full store with core features.
  • Grow: $79 a month, paid yearly. More staff accounts and reports.
  • Advanced: $299 a month, paid yearly. Advanced reporting and automation.
  • Plus: $2,300 a month on a three-year term.

Paying month to month costs more than paying yearly; the pricing page shows both options side by side. Shopify's guide does not give the monthly-billing US prices, so check the live page for those.

In Australia, the pricing page listed Basic at $42 AUD, Grow at $114 AUD and Advanced at $431 AUD a month billed yearly ($56, $149 and $575 AUD billed monthly), with Plus starting at $3,700 AUD a month.

What separates the plans, apart from price?

Mostly staff accounts, card rates and how far you can customise. The Australian pricing page lists no additional staff accounts on Basic, up to 5 on Grow, up to 15 on Advanced and unlimited on Plus. Checkout customisation is listed as limited on Basic, Grow and Advanced and full on Plus. Advanced gets up to 2x API limits on select APIs and Plus up to 10x. Plus also adds unlimited B2B catalogues, up to 9 free expansion stores and priority support.

The page also lists an Agentic plan at $0 a month for listing products in Shopify's Catalog and selling in AI channels, paying only when you make a sale. It offers a 3-day free trial with no credit card required; on the Australian page that was followed by $1 AUD a month for 3 months on most plans. The page states there are no setup fees on any plan.

What are Shopify's payment processing fees in the US?

If you use Shopify Payments, each card payment costs a percentage plus a fixed amount, and the percentage falls as the plan goes up. Shopify's card fees guide gives these US rates:

  • Online standard cards: 2.9% + 30¢ on Basic, 2.7% + 30¢ on Grow, and 2.5% + 30¢ on Advanced.
  • In person: 2.6% + 10¢ on Basic, 2.5% + 10¢ on Grow, and 2.4% + 10¢ on Advanced.

Shopify notes that premium cards and international transactions cost more, and that these rates sit on top of the plan fee. The guide does not give Plus rates. In Australia, the pricing page listed online standard card rates of 1.7% + 30¢ AUD on Basic, 1.55% on Grow, 1.35% on Advanced and 1.15% on Plus.

The useful way to read this is per order. On the US Basic plan, a $100 online card order would cost 2.9% ($2.90) plus 30¢, so $3.20 in processing. On Grow the same order would cost $3.00. That is our arithmetic from the published rates, not a figure Shopify quotes.

What is the third-party transaction fee?

It is an extra fee Shopify charges when an order is paid through a provider other than Shopify Payments, on top of whatever that provider charges. The Australian pricing page listed it at 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus. The US guides we used do not list this fee, so confirm it on the live page for your region.

Shopify's help article on third-party providers adds two details: the fee applies to transactions through third-party gateways even when Shopify Payments is also active, and PayPal transactions are exempt when Shopify Payments is your primary provider. Shopify Payments is only available in certain countries, so if yours is not on the list, build this fee into your margins from day one.

What else will I pay for beyond the plan?

Most stores pay for more than the plan and card fees. The extras worth budgeting for, based on Shopify's own pages, are:

  • Apps. Shopify's app billing help says recurring app charges are added to your Shopify bill on a 30-day cycle, usage-based charges are added to a later bill, and one-time charges come on separate invoices. App prices are set by each developer, so check every listing.
  • A paid theme. The Theme Store has free and paid themes. The paid themes featured on the day we checked were priced from $200 to $420 USD. Shopify says third-party theme purchases are final sale.
  • POS Pro. For physical shops, POS Pro is an add-on charged per location on Basic, Grow and Advanced; the Australian page listed it at $129 AUD a month per location. On Plus, the page says 20 locations are included, and up to 200 with Shopify Payments.
  • Marketplace orders. The first 50 synced marketplace orders a month are listed as free on every plan, then 1% up to $99 USD a month.

Which Shopify plan should I choose?

Start with the cheapest plan that covers your team and your payment needs, then move up when the card rate savings pay for the higher fee. The lower card rates on Grow and Advanced only pay off at a certain monthly volume, so do the maths with your own average order value and order count.

  • Basic suits a founder running the store alone.
  • Grow suits a small team that needs staff accounts.
  • Advanced suits larger teams, higher volumes and stores that need more API capacity.
  • Plus suits businesses that need full checkout customisation, many locations, unlimited B2B catalogues or several expansion stores.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the cheapest Shopify plan in the US?

Shopify gives the Basic plan as $29 a month when paid yearly, according to its September 2026 cost guide. Paying monthly costs more, and card processing fees are charged on top of the plan.

Why does the Shopify pricing page show a different currency to me?

The page shows local prices based on where you are. Shopify says pricing and payment options can differ depending on where your business is based, so check the page from your own country.

Does Shopify charge setup fees?

No. The pricing page states there are no setup fees on any plan. You pay the plan, card processing fees, any third-party transaction fees, and whatever apps or add-ons you choose.

How do I avoid Shopify's third-party transaction fee?

Use Shopify Payments as your payment provider, if it is available in your country and business category. PayPal is also exempt from the fee when Shopify Payments is your primary provider.
