Wix to Framer migration
Wix sites cannot be exported, so a Wix to Framer migration rebuilds every page in Framer. CMS collections export to CSV, blog posts are moved by hand or script because Wix offers no blog export, and one wildcard redirect sends old /post/ URLs to your new blog. Typical sites move in two to four weeks.

Why teams move
Why teams move from Wix to Framer
The brand has outgrown the template
Many Wix sites start from a template. When the brand moves on, a custom design built as a Framer component system gives the site room to match it without fighting the starting layout.Pages assembled from parts
In Framer, a studio-built site is a set of reusable components and CMS templates, so new pages are put together from approved parts instead of being copied and nudged by hand. One team for design and site
When design work already happens in Figma or Framer, moving the live site to Framer removes the step of rebuilding every approved design in a different editor.
What moves
What carries over, and what needs work
Carries over
- CMS collections, exported from Wix to CSV and imported into Framer collections
- Page copy and structure, rebuilt section by section from the live pages
- Images, downloaded at full size and re-uploaded to Framer
- Page titles and meta descriptions, copied into Framer page settings
- Your domain, connected to Framer or transferred away from Wix
Needs work in Framer
The site itselfA Wix site must stay on Wix's servers and cannot be exported to another host.
Every page is rebuilt in Framer from the live site and the agreed design.
Blog postsWix states that blog posts cannot be exported to other platforms.
We move them by hand or with a script that reads the published pages, then check each post against the original.
Wix apps and Velo codeBookings, stores, members areas and Velo code run only on Wix.
Each one is replaced with an integration, a Framer component or a dedicated tool, or kept out of scope.
Dynamic page settingsWix builds dynamic page SEO from collection field variables.
The same patterns are rebuilt with Framer's CMS page variables so every item keeps a unique title and description.
Content model
How Wix content maps to Framer
We map every field before anything moves, so content is not retyped by hand and nothing is dropped without a decision.
| In Wix | In Framer | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Collection CSV column | CMS field of the matching type | Field types chosen per column, not guessed by the importer |
| Blog post body | Formatted Text | Copied from the published post, formatting checked by hand |
| Blog post URL /post/slug | CMS page path /blog/:slug | Slug kept identical, prefix changed with a wildcard redirect |
| Dynamic page SEO pattern | CMS page title and description variables | Same field order so titles read the same |
| Image in the media manager | Image field | Downloaded at full size, alt text rewritten where empty |
Redirects and SEO
Protecting rankings during the move
The redirect plan
The /post/ prefix
Wix blog posts live at /post/slug and the prefix can be renamed but not removed.A single Framer wildcard rule sends /post/* to /blog/:1 so every post keeps its link equity.
Dynamic and static pages
Dynamic item pages and static pages are listed from the crawl, matched to their Framer paths and given permanent redirects where the path changes.Rules set before the domain moves
Redirects are added in Framer before the domain is connected, then tested against the old URL list the same day, so search engines never see a gap.
Risks we watch for
Hand-moved content
Because blog posts cannot be exported, they are the likeliest place for missing headings, links or images.Every moved post is compared with the original before launch.
Unique titles on item pages
Dynamic pages that shared one SEO pattern in Wix need the equivalent CMS variables in Framer, or many items would publish with the same title.Image search traffic
Every image gets a new address on Framer's hosting after the move.Images that bring visitors from image search get descriptive file names and alt text, so they can be found again.
Timeline and fit
How long it takes, and whether it suits you

Typical timeline
Wix to Framer
2to4weeks
What the range assumes
Two to four weeks is our published range for migrating a typical marketing site. It assumes a design is agreed, content is final, and the page count is modest. A long blog that has to be moved post by post, or Wix apps to replace, adds time, which we estimate after counting the URLs.
We confirm the timeline for your site after the initial audit, since the number of URLs and the state of the content drive most of the work.
It fits when
- The site is a marketing or portfolio site with a modest blog
- The brand needs a custom design rather than a template
- The team wants to keep editing content themselves
- Wix apps play a small role or none at all
We would advise against it when
- Wix Stores, Bookings or member areas run the business
- Hundreds of blog posts would need moving by hand with no budget for it
- A template refresh inside Wix would solve the problem
- The site depends on Velo backend code
How we run it
How we run a Wix to Framer move
Step 01
Crawl and count
We crawl the Wix site, count pages, dynamic items and blog posts, and record titles, descriptions and rankings for each URL.
Step 02
Export what can be exported
We export CMS collections to CSV, download images, and plan how blog posts will be moved since Wix offers no export for them.
Step 03
Rebuild in Framer
We build the new design as Framer components and CMS templates, import collections and move posts, checking each against the live original.
Step 04
Redirect and connect
We set the /post/ wildcard and single redirects in Framer, connect or transfer the domain and watch indexing and rankings after the switch.
Common questions
Wix to Framer: questions we get asked
Can I export my Wix site to Framer?
Not directly. Wix sites must stay on Wix's servers and cannot be exported. CMS collections can be exported to CSV, but pages are rebuilt in Framer and blog posts are moved by hand or by script.
Can I export my Wix blog?
No. Wix states that blog posts cannot be exported to other platforms. We move them from the published pages and check every post, which is why blog size affects the timeline.
Will my Wix blog URLs change?
The prefix usually does, from /post/ to /blog/, but the slug stays the same. One wildcard redirect in Framer sends every old post URL to its new address.
Can I keep my domain when leaving Wix?
Yes. The domain can be connected to Framer or transferred from Wix to another registrar, and the switch is timed with the redirects so visitors and search engines go straight to the new site.
Next step
Want it moved for you? We plan the move around what already ranks.
We inventory every Wix URL, map each one to its new address in Framer, move the content with its metadata, then switch over and watch indexing.
- Every URL inventoriedA full URL list with a ranking and traffic baseline.
- Every old URL mappedA 301 redirect map so link equity carries over.
- Watched after launchSitemap submitted, then indexing and rankings monitored.
